In 1946 the original Bellanca was launched by the Aeronca Manufacturing Company as an alternative to the Piper J-3 Cub. Over 10.000 aircraft of various models had been produced upto 1951. The orignals were fitted with a 65 HP motor, which later through the years increased up to the 150 HP Lycoming. This was also true of the wingspan which grew from the original 9,75 m, to 10,50 m in the 1970´s. In total, well over 20.000 aircraft were sold and so the Bellanca must rate as one of the most effective designs of thia style of aircraft. The robbe-Bellanca is not only ideal to work as a glider-tug for the robbefiber sailplane models, but also, an attractive high-winger for basic aerobatics. The effective flaps allow impressive short take-off and easy, successful landings. The model is a scale model of the well known Bellanc 7 Citabria. It has been designed from day one for optimum practicality. Therefore, th fuselage length has been slightly increased, which improves the flight performance, such as when glider towing. the wings and tail surfaces are manufactured, like the fuselage in laser-cut wood. The complete model is covered in original Oracover® film. The tough undercarriage and the scale wing-struts are not only functional, but also complete the overall impression. The epoxy cowling and spats are finished ready to assemble. The fuselage floor has a ready-made tunnel to accommodate the engine silencer system. The tow release is machined from strong aluminium and comes already pre-installed. All flying surfaces are finished and need only to be hinged to complete. Hardware and wheels are also included with the model.
